haven't seen the movie but i doubt they show how it really went. bobby seale lost his consciousness as they had gagged him and chained him into a chair chains so tight that he lost his consciousness. ppl in the jury were crying as cops would start beating him as he tried to move his fingers to make his blood circulate again. if i remember right, he wasnt allowed to say a word.

That doesn't mean he can insult the judge all he likes. If you behave disrespectfully in court you are generally made to shut up. This may be challenging for a hippy to understand, but that's how it works.

its true though i've read the book "the black panthers speak" and i read the whole court records and booby seale's lawyer was not present so therfore he did have the right to speak on behalf of himself

Yeah, you're right -- it would be challenging for a hippy to understand. Hippies believe in equality.

So you call someone "honorable" and "your honor" just because everyone else tells you to. You are obviously not very smart.
Well I guess we can't all be sheep.
I'd call him ... ( 2 weeks ago by ASKaPHYSICIST)
I'd call him superman if he likes, as long as that allows me to present my case.
I certainly wouldn't address him as 'old man' or accuse him of acting in the same manner as a slave owner. That's simply disrespectful, no matter who he is. But then again, I'm not a Hippy. I'm sure in your world calling people old and labelling them as sheep and slave owners is a completely nor
mal thing to do.
There is nothing " ... ( 2 weeks ago by dboy1289)
There is nothing "honorable" or "super" about deny a man his right to defend himself while his attorney is ill. One of the purposes of the counterculture movement was to fix a broken system. And ass kissing would have taught people to be sheep instead of asserting yourself when the constitution is being ignored........Superman
in what ever way ... ( 2 weeks ago by ASKaPHYSICIST)
in what ever way you may interpret this video, the fact of the matter is that all it shows is an angry man rambling insults at a judge, who allegedly did not permit him to defend himself (possibly for valid reasons), who then orders to have him sit down. For all I know the judge was just about to give him permission, but upon being interrupted, saw no alternative but to enforce court rule.
The defendant was assertive, I give you that, ... but so was the judge. Tough luck.
The Man's attorney ... ( 2 weeks ago by dboy1289)
The Man's attorney was sick....what possible valid reason could he have to deny him the chance to defend himself?
I don't know the ... ( 2 weeks ago by ASKaPHYSICIST)
I don't know the american legal system nor this particular case well enough. Maybe people are only allowed to defend themselves under particular circumstances.
What I know for sure is that a defendant not knowing enough about court proceedings could greatly hurt his own case when trying to defend himself. You know how in the movies the lawyer of the opposition always jumps up and shouts 'objection' when an unsuitable question is asked. They'd be all over
him with that.
After his attorney ... ( 2 weeks ago by dboy1289)
After his attorney became ill, Bobby Seale asked the judge to postpone the trial....Fair enough, right????
After Judge Hoffman refused to postpone the trail, Bobby asked to defend himself.... Again fair enough, right???? Judge Hoffman wanted Bobby to use the attorney of the other seven defendants. It was not Judge Hoffman's job to decide if Bobby could defend himself....He could advise him not to do
so, but he cannot deny him that right.
If you say so. I ... ( 2 weeks ago by ASKaPHYSICIST)
If you say so. I don't know if your legal system grants everyone the right to defend oneself. Postponing the trial would seem like the prudent cause of action.
Anyways, I'd say mr Seale would have been better off listening to what the judge had to say, rather than interrupting him in the middle of a sentence.
