Anyone familiar with Kelsey Briggs story knows of the animosity between her two families.
The paternal side,The Brigg's,and the maternal side,The Smith's.
The non-stop lies,and fighting is senseless,and it only hurts everyone involved.
It is disrespectful to Kelsey and her precious memory.
Kelsey Brigg's should not be remembered as the story of a little girl who was born into two families who can't get along.
That observation is missing the real issues at the heart of this case,which is
Child Abuse and the failure of the laws and services to protect the most innocent victims,the children.
Anyone who makes this story out to be about a mere custody battle has an agenda and is tampering with the truth.
I wrote this poem through the innocence of how Kelsey may see things. In the hour leading up to Kelsey's murder on the afternoon of October 11,2005 only two people had contact with Kelsey,her mother Raye Dawn Smith,and her Stepfather Michael Lee Porter. To this day,they both blame one another fo
r Kelsey's death. They were both convicted of enabling child abuse. No one was ever convicted of Kelsey's murder. One day the whole truth will come out. Kelsey deserves Justice and until the one/ones responsible for Kelsey's death confesses,we will just have to wait. No doubt one day Kelsey will get
