i think the so called "split timelines" are a what if kind of thing or alternated ending after ocerina of time. I might not be 100% sure what i'm saying right, but at least it makes the adventures of link less confusing.

I was just thinking, maybe the items that appear in the games are somehow linked too. For example the fact that the Wind Waker Mirror Shield is Blue, while the one in Majoras Mask is Brown. But then again, the OOT one is Red... I am just confusing myself. Good watching though.

These games are like comic books. They are loosely related. That's why they all have names and not numbers.
Zelda II has number but it's not the legend of Zelda. It's the adventure of Link.
SO it's all obviously related, but not really.
I think Zelda evolved to what it is because nobody cared about the story. We just like the games. It's like Mario. There's no emphasis on story nor plausibility. There's just a reason to exist. And everyone was fine with that.

That is a completely and utterly stupid point of view. Not saying that you aren't permitted to have your views on the games, but personally i think that zelda is only like it is today because of its stories and every other fan i know agrees.
Although i do agree about the mario thing. It's always a bit blunt with the whole "save the princess" theme through every game lol. At least zelda has some sort of variety.

No, it's not stupid because it's a fucken video game. Not only is it a video a game it was conceived during a time when nobody took this shit seriously. It was for kicks and giggles on a rainy day, nobody cared.
Much like a comic book Zelda is full of timeline variations because the designers juuust made it up as they went along. SO you shouldn't put too much thought into how each Zelda game ties into the others because time changes the design and new designers replace the old.
