Had mine January ... ( 5 months ago by JimReevesFan)
Had mine January 30th. TWO stitched puncture wounds not giving me any problem, but some pain and decreased range of motion, plus watch out when the bandage comes off for tape blisters. I have one that is healing slowly. FIRST TIME surgery for me. Would not do it again only if necessary. Also watch out for anesthesia after effects. Nurses wanted me to eat; half of a turkey sandwich came up in barf bag on the way home. 2 1/2 days to get over effects. E-mail me if needed for more questions.
I had surgery 9/14/ ... ( 5 months ago by CatskillKate)
I had surgery 9/14/07. I had a great 2 1/2 weeks at home. Wish I stayed off work longer to heal. I went back to doing my routine activity/functions. BIG MISTAKE!! Now I may be looking at a 2nd surgery. My advise - don't do too much too soon. The pros know best how to heal you - that's why you (and I) went in the first place. Don't end up like me - terrified that I have to go through this again. It's a successful surgery if the recovery is done properly.
I just went back to ... ( 5 months ago by JimReevesFan)
I just went back to doc for post-op appointment after surgery 2 weeks ago. Doc has put me off for 4-6 more weeks for physical therapy and has said don't do too much too soon. If I went back after 2 1/2 weeks in my line of work, it would be no damned good. Moral of the story: Other than anesthesia, surgery wasn't too bad BUT follow doctor's orders and take the time to HEAL. Don't speed through it. Again, e-mail if you have any questions through YouTube and I'll try to fill you in. Thanks.
I had surgery on my ... ( 5 months ago by jmstaaf)
I had surgery on my shoulder on 4/17/2007. I had a seperated shoulder and some torn ligaments. So i had part of my collar bone removed. Now I have to have surgery again because I have a bone spur tearing into my rotator cuff. Not much fun. These videos are so interesting. I love the medical field. I started school to become a MA and I am now going to become a respitory therapist. Much fun! LOve it!
I had arthroscopic ... ( 5 months ago by abbocris)
I had arthroscopic shoulder surgery about 3 weeks ago. How do I know when I'm doing too much with my left arm? It aches a lot, especially at night, but I don't wear the sling most of the time because it is so restrictive. I don't lift anything, and I don't raise the arm out to the side at all, but I can reach ahead about shoulder level. I'd like some advice from others who have been through this. TIA!
Hi! I had ... ( 5 months ago by thegtank)
Hi! I had athroscopic shoulder surgery last august. It's pretty much all back to perfect today. My doctor told me to wear my sling all day and night for the first 4 weeks (which i did). I'd recommend you to wear it all the time and not to move your arm AT ALL! The cartillage that has been re-fixed can rip off very easily! If u want a good result, you have to wear the sling. . After 4 weeks you can take it off during the day. Wear it at nights for 4 more weeks. hope that helps.
Had mine done on ... ( 4 months ago by bryandamadman)
Had mine done on Feb 8th, I worked out in the gym for the first time today. Was really weak in my left shoulder, but it felt really good to get it stretched out. I still have pain in the joint, but it's less than it was before surgery and it's getting better all the time. Wean yourself off the painkillers as soon as you can. I was addicted to Lortabs, took me forever to kick it...now all I take is Ibuprofen.

I had impingement ... ( 4 months ago by ez1ez)
I had impingement surgery on Feb 18, 08. It's been about 2 and a half weeks and all seems pretty normal. Some leftover discomfort but seems healing well. My Doc says to only use sling first couple of days. Prolonged use of sling can cause frozen shoulder. Not good. I put off surgery since August but am glad I did it finally. Couldn't even sleep on it for months. Do best to get full Range of Motion ASAP

Got 1 of those tape blisters still healing from that. Range of motion was major issue but also healing well. Been 17 days. 3 punctures for me. Some bone removal. Good Luck
Surgery in 4 weeks; ... ( 4 months ago by upway2l8again)
Surgery in 4 weeks; PT helped but not enough I guess. Appreciated the voiceover, glad to know the burred surfaces will heal over with periosteum... those jagged edges gave me the heebee-jeebies. :-) Thanks again, very helpful.

I had my surgery 2 days ago and so far so good. The thing that freaked me out most was my arm felt dead from the anestethia block.
What cartilage tear ... ( 4 months ago by CatskillKate)
What cartilage tear did you have? I have to have a 2nd surgery to repair a labrum tear. The first surgery was to remove bone spurs and repair rotator cuff. Doc thought I should have been fine, but after much complaining of pain, we did an arthogram. The tear was discovered. I maybe went back to work too soon (restaurant mgr.) and now I pay the price. Not looking forward to surgery, but am SO tired of being in pain 24/7. I'm afraid of going back to work too soon. Again. Damn work ethic!!

Happened to me too, PT did not help. Surgery on January 30 2008, PT started 1 month after, now in 5th week at 50% of full ability. Hang in there, watch tape blister bandage after surgery.
I'm having this ... ( 3 months ago by ibshelly2u)
I'm having this done 5/9. Thankfully, nothing is torn but I have a bone spur and a cyst right where the rotator cuff comes into the shoulder which is causing an impingement. The Doc wants to make sure that there isn't any detaching in that area. 2 cortisone shots and 4 months of PT haven't done anygood. Hope this will fix it. shelly
I had my surgery ... ( 3 months ago by gsharp68)
I had my surgery the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I had severe bursitis, so bad that my surgeon wasn't able to see into the joint before the debridement. My injury happened as the result of a car accident I was involved in on 8/4/06. I went thru several rounds of PT and Chiro before electing to have surgery. Surgery was the best thing for me. Due to the severity of my injury, I'm still healing. But it is much better than it was presurgical. 5 surgeries on my left knee, walking/talking ortho.
I am going to have ... ( 2 months ago by imaj12)
I am going to have arthroscopic shoulder surgery. now i am kind of scared and thiking if realy should have it. it is for impingement, some calcium n the area and may be bursitis. who knows. I am having doubts cuz what if there are complications. at this time, i can work okay. only pain I have is discomfort and if I do exercise or say wash my car or sleep on that side of shoulder. Does some pain always remain after surgery. if so, should I just not have it & live w current pain level 3-4?
so, what did you ... ( 2 months ago by imaj12)
so, what did you have rot cuff tear or impingement? so, you have no pain when you sleep on that side of arm? what was reason of your injury to begin with?
The longer you wait ... ( 2 months ago by archadias1)
The longer you wait, the worse it will get. I'm actually going in TOMORROW, and I have no pain, but when I move my right arm outside of a certain range of motion it will just pop right out of socket. Hurts like a bitch. If you have calcium build up in the area it will really affect you later. Please, please get that fixed. Then no more chronic pain! How awesome will that be?

I am having shoulder shoulder due to impingement on 06/16. They want to put a pain buster pump in my shoulder for 2 days after surgery and I have not read anything positive about these. Anybody have this pump? I understand it can cause permanent pain in the shoulder.
