Our new computer ... ( 1 month ago by Vincentdeep)
Our new computer generated Matrix shit, sin city shit, not real shit. I think personally that Matrix reloaded chase scene is the most exiting ever except for one thing it's not real. I think it's done on a stretch of green screen road, and everything exciting is added later by computer!

I agree totally. It doesn't matter how great an action scene is. If you know it didn't happen in front of the camera then it loses it's impact. They really showed how to do it in MM2.

actually thats not true, they constructed a 2 mile stretch of highway for those scenes. the background scenes are added but the highway is quite real.

too bad that hottie died young, her name was arkie and she died shortly after this film

I stand corrected, although I'm just a little old school I guess. I've always considered catching air in San Fran and cruising the streets of NY at a buck-20 real. Seeing real scenery while the action takes place kinda makes all the more beleivable. Movies like Gumball Rally, Seven-ups, the french connection, the Blues Brothers, Die hard w/vengeance, Duel. Places I've seen and can relate to. But Matrix 2 has the WOW factor 4-sure.

The Mad Max world is a copy of the world in Hokuto No Ken... even the main character outfit is the same...
Nice observation ... ( 1 month ago by robag88)
Nice observation except it's the other way around. Mad Max 2 was released in 1981 - two years before the Fist of the North Star series began in 1983 - and the first Mad Max film was in 1979 - four years before FOTNS.

At best I'd say the post-apocolyptic-future in Fist of the North Star is somewhat similar to or even inspired by Mad Max.

Wow, ty for indepth version of max. I just think he is sexy. Sorry for my inept thoughts. Max is on his own crusade, not sure what he is looking for?

You know, Rob, after watching many of your analyses (2001, The Shining, Matrix, and this one), I have to ask: which one of these movies was your favorite to analyse?

2001 (expanded text review)- it was the most difficult, but went way deeper than I thought a single film could. When I eventually make a video for that one, it will probably be over an hour long.

Rob, thanks for the analysis, I often thought the first Mad Max was the last of the American road movies of the 1970's.
Even in the Road Warrior one of the scenes with Roop and Charlie is very similar to a scene in Vanishing Point.
