I have travelled all over the part of Africa South of the Sahara, and if you travel on some of the buses in the rural areas the stench is very difficult to bear. But I accept someone else's point that it is more important in Africa to buy food for their children than on deodorant. I am involved with some charities over there that look after orphans of AIDs parents and also a one which supplies powdered milk to mothers who are H1V positive,

Ok however doesnt mean that africans stink...thats what americans always think when they hear africa..people running naked on street and HIV ...god i know those things exist in some african countries but thats not what all Africa is about. like i said stinky people are everywhere and god i cant even tell you how much it stinks when u get in the subway in Chicago..smells like poop

I think we are in a broad agreement here. And no, I am only referring to some of the buses and it isn't just the passengers, often they have their livestock on the bus as well. In the cities it is a different picture. Personally I love Africa, smells and all :-)

i'm an american who has lived nearly ten years in africa and i think what matt has done is truely inspirational for us all. as far as the smelling bad comment goes, can he have his own opinion on the subject without being called a racist?!? that was HIS experience. he wasn't saying the whole continent smelled bad. give the guy a break!
