It is, being a stage actor myself I know how hard it is to multi task, sing, dance, etc. screen actors have it easier because they get seconed chances, on stage if you mess up you can't go back.

Johnny Depp was great. His singing wasn't great but it also wasn't that bad. He also was perfect for this part because you just felt as if he were really Sweeney Todd. That is great acting. Helena Carter was also very good. Though not a very good singer.

Carter is charming, but that doesn't work here. Her voice is too sweet and pure for this role. Mrs. Lovett requires more of an edge, more of a maniacal self-serving quality that she doesn't show here. She's a wonderful actress, and I love her work elsewhere. But she simply doesn't work as Lovett.

Well Shaunin i can get what you say but the fact ive read the book as well as the stage play with angela but if you ask me Lovett is a sweet calm smart i mean most of her songs are like sweet and calm and chipper i dont like the play verison because it was missing that spice if you ask me she did an excellent job as lovett she played the part better then i thought she would and Johnny of course blew me out of water..(always does) :D love the movie

Actually, I quite like that sweet-ish quality she brings to the role! It makes her seem more human, which makes the charachter a little more disturbing, in my opinion at least. :)
I like Angela too, but it seems like you're kinda wanting Helena to be another Angela! They both bring different qualities to the charachter, both of which I think have their good and bad points :)
