Hey-I hereby openly admit to being a user of R**fer; I read in the Washingtonian back in the early 90's(I think)where Ann stated she and Carl were users also;Point is I LOVE the mellow smooth tone in Carl's voice and I love his talent for verbally painting a vivid picture, without trying to get all up in your face.I don't mean to suggest that the man was stoned while doing his job; Notwithstanding,it's simply THE most mellow production on PBS I've ever seen.Stoned OR straight! What Lisp?GO CARL!

Ann's favorite cocktail? A COSMOpolitan! Just kidding... Wow- I've tried three times now to unravel what in fact you're trying to establish with these seemingly deep and meaningful remarks. Either I need a Philosophy of Doctorate in Cypher Key theory or there's just nothing there to correlate. I'm not exactly in a self-consistent-field, but I'm not exactly picking daisies out in left field either. Should I bother? This aside- I'm enjoying these COSMOS vids more and more by the minute!!

Lighthouse was saying certain terms seem less important the more we learn.I think the laser guy is trying to stretch the simple observation/opinion previously stated into some deep dramatic conclusion.A "seemingly" open ended SIGH in I think supportive pacification. However contradicted the very statement he's appearing to support by drawing a duality between East and West; Not unusual.
THAT aside, I realize I'm inviting the wrath of someone out there I'm sure; I like looking at the night sky.

Although most of the information in Cosmos is still relevant, some is outdated and some important information is simply missing. The program was great, but lets not lose sight of its purpose: to educate. It wasnt meant to be a "classic". Modern technologies can improve on Sagan's great concept.

I don't think anyone could say it better than Carl could. Yes, some of the graphics are cheesy and a small fraction of it is obsolete, but Carl Sagan had a gift for explaining and inspiring wonder that no one else could match.

This guys speak ability is truly on another level. He captures my attention the second I hear it, same with the music too (to give you an idea I was looking at porn and the girls were hott).
Best show ever. This and Bill Nye.

Where are you now? ...( 1 week ago by artist1951)
Where are you now? It's funny - the first question ever asked was, "Where are you, Adam?" Everyone has to be some 'place'. Where is the best place for your soul to be?

When the series was revamped for DVD, Carl and his wife added comment segments to update new discoveries and technologies. I highly recommend getting the series on DVD.

My parents used to watch this when I was little. I miss the 80's so much. No show could ever have a nice 5 minute long intro these days.

Which came first? The chicken or the Universe?
Pretty much the substance of your cute observations above. Indeed.

I agree I agree I agree. I'm wondering if today kids attention spans are even shorter than when "we" were kids; Einstein says "YES" - relatively speaking. If that's not quite the direction I should take this I clearly agree with your comment. The entire original series a nice, smooth, ...mellow ride. Bye

What would Einstein say to E=M ? (Now there's that 'other' thing, called the human soul.)

Whoa.I "clearly" agree with YOU,Samantha. Talk about pseudo intellectual. E=M?It's the same equation, anyway. Multiplying M by the speed of light squared suggests the cosmic speed limit, which according to Albert,is the speed of light. Which, again, according to Albert,is the only way for the world to be "logically consistent". Which, according to ME, the lame convoluted observations to which you are referring above ARE NOT! I'm no Ph.D.; But I know nonsense when I see it. We Miss you Carl!

If I could've asked Carl Sagan one question, it would've been, "Why is there something instead of nothing?"
