Yeah Buddy Holly inspired Waylon to sing. Waylon Droped out of school at grade 7 and became a radio DJ where he interviewed Buddy... from there the two became very close. I don't know if this is true but i Heard Waylon Gave up his seat to Richie Valens because Richie wanted to go home and wasn't feeling well! this fact Haunted Waylon for the rest of his life! I sure wish i could of been there in '58 when these guys were at their peak. too bad i was born in '89. now they're rocking with god! RIP

Avtually Allsup pulled a 50 cent coin out of his pocket and the two men flipped for the seat. Allsup lost Valens&Allsup wanted to flip for the last steat on the plane so Allsup took the bus and he was lucky he lost but i know this cause my dad was born in 66 and he always tells me when this song plays how they died and how one man lost a coin flip

Everything about this short video rings true. One important thing that is incorrect is the part that reads Waylon Jennings flipped a coin. He did not. Initially Buddy, Tommy Alsup,and Waylon were scheduled to fly. The Big Bopper couldn't get any rest in the bus of his size and the fact that the heater was broke so Waylon gave up his seat to him. Ritchie wasn't sick so Tommy Alsup said Lets flip a coin. This is what happened and those survivors have stated that in many interviews.
