The Suburbs would bomb on down to Madison, Wisconsin 3 or 4 times per year in the early to mid-1980's. I was always in attendance, and they were consistently amazing.
I saw The Suburbs at "GS Vigs," a fledgling nightclub owned by Butch Vig of Garbage fame. That night they invited "that guy from Husker Du" to come onstage and flip-out. Then he did a stage dive, and ran out the front door.

vonkaltenborn: I was living in Rochester, MN when I first heard the Suburbs on KRPR 89.9(community) college radio. From 1983-1986 I probably saw them in and around Rochester 6 times. They were the best live band I've ever seen!

Also, WNYU (New York Univ.) and WFDU (Fairleigh Dickinson College) would play the Suburbs, plus most of the other Twin Cities artists. The "This Is Pop" show on WNYU was one of the best 80's college radio shows going for a few years.
