Unfortunately for her, the smug self-righteousness that comes so easy to white liberals and progressives like her (and me) erects an impenetrable shield of cluelessness about how we continue to benefit from slavery and genocide, even when we ourselves never personally enslaved or murdered anyone. That certainly would be ideal, but you can't expect everybody to be as ready to "get over it" as you are, especially since the effects of slavery and genocide continue to this very day and the institutions whose way was paved by those "past" crimes still exist and show no signs of going away anytime soon.
