Jerry Goldsmith was commissioned to score "Chinatown" at the last minute. It took less than two weeks and is now consdiered one of his best. I agree. It was brilliant.

Thanks for sharing. Good video. Great film!! I want to see it again -- on the silver screen! NOT on video/big screen tv! Polanski is one of my house gods. One of my favorites is his film "What?". Have seen it three or four times (in cinema)! Ilke so many. Cul De Sac is also good. -Hans - the friendly viking in Sweden

That bit they showed of "Of Mice and Men" is misleading. I wish that they could have shown a few of the scenes before and after it so that the scene could be better explained.
Polanski is a great director, though, as evidenced in Chinatown, the Pianist, and Rosemary's Baby.

I think it represents the inner demons that affects everyone's lives and how they struggle to let sleeping dogs lie. It could also mean an alien situation beyond our control or understanding such as the tragic events in their past and the tragic conclusion to the story. Which i think is most prevalent since Chinatown is definitely more a theme than an actual setting.
