I was 16, living on the West Coast and a fan of rock and roll music when I first heard this song in 1963. I've never forgotten it.
It was one of a handful of CW songs of that era that effortlessly "crossed over" into popular music. This song is sung so soulfully and beautifully that it remains timeless to this day. Bobby, you are unforgettable. Thanks so much for giving this to us.

This is one of the songs, which have become rare these days. It's not about dancing and funny guitar solos but about lyrics. I love this mixture of feelings, of lonelinees and hope, that it creates. It almost uses to make me cry everytime that I'm listening to it. I'm 22 years old and can do nohing but love this song! One of the greatest titles ever created!

Accrding to Wikipedia, In 1963 it reached #10 on the US Pop Singles, #5 on the US Country Singles & #4 on the US A.C. Singles. I wish he would have won, but not sure as this song is oone of my favourites. I used to listen to it at most times cuz I was living in another city which was about 500 mles away from home. Also, I used to live in Detroit City. So go figure, hehe! Thanks, Bobby Bare as a great singer!
