I'm from Turkey and this is something which is really interesting and I don't know. Also Anathema and Katatonia are so popular in Turkey. Maybe that's about the vein of music. Turks like sadness. Lol. BTW, which question is stupid?

You mean the workers migrated from Turkey in 50s or such. They migrated from the rural areas, not from the cities. Culturally they're different than people who live in Turkey. Maybe that's the reason of why they listen to so much mainstream music. Though that's my opinion, still a mystery it is...

Dear mr. empy, please check the movie soundtracks of 80's... u will have much to inspire I believe, get the sound themes of the turkish music... we adore melancholy and yet empyrium is the modern version that we take for granted...

intresting fact, I'm from germany, and I don't have a proble mwith people that have anotehr antionality as I have, and I dont have a problem with turks, I mean I love to eat a d
öner ;) but it was invented in berlin by turks I think. Well yeah the most turks I see here also listen to mainstream music, got the most expensive cloth and so on and yeah well, the thinkg withthe emigration could be the reason, really an interessting fact. Empiyrium rules ;)
