dude...malibu is originally from barbados..which is a long way from jamaica..(do you call all asian food chinese?) its not bacward, i work with a couple of guys from puerto rico and they always tell me how they cant wait to go home on vacation..i.e. atmosphere is way more easygoing..rum drinking..pig roasts..no worrys..i think the commercials are just making fun of themselves(carribian attitude) and they dont mind!

Sorry about my ignorance regarding Malibu's country of origin; for the self-deprecation, I believe there's a certain line which when crossed, can transform "internal" camaraderie into global insult. Certainly being portrayed as lazy and backward could be cool for pre-teens, but in this case, it sort of makes u go, "hmmmm". Anyway, maybe I'm just a grumpy middle-aged man, and they are indeed funny, since everyone else seems to find them funny, and everyone cannot be stupid except me.

Well, there are Jamaicans living in Barbados...
Sadly, in the eyes of many, "we Caribbeans" all sound alike; they don't make distinctions between Bajans, Jamaicans, Trinis, etc. Jamaica tends to represent the Caribbean region in popular culture so hence the stereotype. I think the ad captures the "easy going" attitude of the West Indies.
