Beware of Hezbollah. They are people that lust war and vengeance. They inflict terror into peoples hearts, and gain glory from all the innocent lives they destroy. They here to terrorize simply because of the free and ordinary lifestyles we live, and they are here to take away freedom that you enjoy and put your life and the life of future generations into living in constant fear and terror. Take away freedom? free lifestyles we have? who's we? the Lebanese? 20% of Lebanon lives under $2 a day, what lebanon do you talk about? the clubs and beaches? The governments of Lebanon past and present have not done anything to help the south. Hezbollah has given free education, healthcare, social services, construction for the country's poor, and the country's ETHNIC MAJORITY.

That's not what the scholarship shows. Zeev Maoz, former director of the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University, wrote a comprehensive historical study of all of Israel's wars entitled "Defending the Holy Land." His conclusion: "Israel's war experience is a story of folly, recklessness and self-made traps. None of Israel's wars, with a possible exception of the 1948 War of Independence, was what Israel refers to as a war of necessity. They were all wars of choice or folly."

thank you for quoting some obscure scholar ive never even heard of on his opinion about something you have no idea about, but in every situation israel was either attacked or was about to be attacked and acted preemptively, and why would it be a a story of folly, recklesness, and self made traps as he calls it if they won ever war with minimal casualties and land gains?

Obscure? He's the former director of your country's leading think tank. Read the book. Go to Amazon & read the reviews. It's an exhaustive study. Minimal casualties & land gains would imply planned strategic goals. So was Israel attacked & just miraculously acquired strategic land gains? Or were these wars planned & perpetrated with all the inherent recklessness & folly of warmongering?
Israel is often said to be one war away from oblivion. That speaks of folly & traps & missed opportunities.

You're the most articulate defender of Islam I've read on youtube. I'm an American of Lebanese Christian descent. I agree with your defense of your religion and am very glad you're making it. As much as I too loathe Christian fundamentalists, I ask that you don't lump all Christians in with them. There are myths tossed about on both sides. They denigrate the great achievements of Muslim civilization, and then Muslims turn around and claim that Christians were living in the dark ages, etc.

Are the other Lebanese "eagerly waiting for round 2"? This sort of bluster is precisely why other Lebanese consider Hezbollah a threat to Lebanon's security. It's becoming like the PLO during the Civil War--a state within a state. And behaving just as arrogantly as the PLO who didn't care how much destruction rained down on Lebanon. Remember how they treated the Shia in the South, who eventually turned against them? How many more wars must Lebanon suffer for Hezbollah's dignity & honor?

Catholics feel a spiritual connection to Rome, but that doesn't mean they want to reclaim the papal states. Jews feel a spiritual connection to Jerusalem, but that does not give them the right to ethnically cleanse the indigenous population. The Palestinian Christians in the Occupied Territories are denied even the right to worship in the Christian Holy Places that they've been the stewards of for centuries. Pardon me then, Doug. But as a fellow American, you might wish to take a closer look at our relationship with Israel & see for yourself whether it's a strategic asset or liability. I recommend John Mearsheimer & Stephen Walt's "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy". Walt is the former dean of Harvard's Kennedy School. My only disagreement with the book is that I think we use Israel even more than they use us. And all TRUE friends of Israel, like myself, will want the relationship to change.
