the main issue about bridge collapsing is the resonance that wind performed in this story. if you achieve required vibration frequency as much as it requires, you can destroy everything with small energy! like a singer can break a glass if she sings continuesly in constant proper frequency.

Nope it was wind and the engineering failure of providing an outlet for the wind. The bridge acted like a big sail. I live in Tacoma and have traversed across the new bridge several times on Highway 16. The Tacoma Narrows is well-known for its high winds.

It's unbelievable how little attention people pay, obama, clinton, and mcain all voted to fund the war 3 times may 2005, dec 2005, and june 2006, and also in june 2006 obama,clinton, and mcain all rejected a bill authored by john kerry that would force bush to bring the troops home within 1 year. This happend because if a force is applied with the natural frequency of the motion, then the amplitude will build up and the system will resonate, so even just a small input of energy, with the right timing, can increase the amplitude to BREAKING POINT!

I Do not study bridges as jrichzzz but i know for a fact, that 75% of all steel supporting a bridge could brake(if it does in a average ammount on every capble) without the bridge would ever notice, its the same for a regular rope. try to take a triple winded rope and cut 2 of the winds, nothing should happen.

No-one was killed in the collapse, as they closed the bridge at 10am before it collapsed at 11am. The only victim was a dog which was left in the car after the owner was forced to flee. The dog died as the car fell due to the collapse.
