The opening sequences from Crosby's final Mack Sennett short, with two songs Bing never recorded for Brunswick or Decca - "Auf Wiedersehen" and (under the opening credits) a truncated version of "My Silent Love." Look carefully and you'll spot Bing's loyal friend, guitar virtuoso Eddie Lang, in the on-camera band.

This song "Auf Wiedersehen, My Dear" was played constantly in the movie Jewel Robbery with William Powell and Kay Francis. This is a must see movie! They actually put a Brunswick record on the turntable and play the song.

Wonderful clip! Too bad he never recorded "My Silent Love" for Brunswick or in a feature film at Paramount -it's a rarely heard song by any singer written by Dana Suese.

Really amazing...but I think Russ Columbo's version of Auf Weidersehen, My Dear is better.

I grew up in the 30's imitating both and I must confess that Russ's way of dragging one word into another--slightly slurring the sounds by reducing timber--appealed to me, but after singing the thing hundreds of times for 50 years I still don't know which version I prefer. Over all--Crosby is unbeatable in the crooning dept. His timber and those deep 5 or 6 notes he projects make every man think he can do it Bing's way. Sadly, they can't but luckily for all of us they continue to try.

Most people know this song because of Lucy & Desi's "duet" of it on "I LOVE LUCY" in 1952{"AUF!"/"Weidersehen..."/"AUF!"/"Weidersehen, my dear...what's the matter? Don't you like it?"/"AUF!!"/"What's wrong with it?"/"'What's wrong with it'? I sound like a trained seal!!"}.
