This is part 5 of 5 of a one-hour special was filmed in 1979 to promote the arrival of the Muppets in Hollywood with the release of The Muppet Movie. Guest stars abound, including Mel Brooks, Dom DeLuise, Don Knotts, Liberace, Vincent Price, Christopher Reeve, and many more. It's filled with laughs and music.

OMG Rita Moreno is hilarious. I saw her in the episode she did in the show. She made me laugh ma a** off lol. She also won an emmy for that episode too.

They were called the "Mutations" because in the Connie Stevens episode of "the Muppet Show", Connie was happy that Kermit told her they got her a group to back her up in her number. Out came these pink monsters, which Connie asked Kermit "Is that the group" to which Kermit Replyed "you called it". Connie than said "well they aren't The Temptations", Kermit than said "Nope thoes are the Mutations". To which the name stuck, hope that helps.

I agree, it's probably because they don't want to pay for the rights on any "non-Muppet movie" song. But maybe this will be include in one of the Muppet Show season DVD box sets.
