The movie is called "Roberta", made in 1935. It was based on a Broadway hit of the year-before, and introduced a brash young personality who would have a pretty-hair career later-on, named Bob Hope! Jerome Kern wrote this lovely melody which has of course been done many-times, in many-styles, and which gets my personal vote as maybe the most beautiful song of the last century. And just for the record, "Roberta" was produced by RKO, and directed by a very underrated man named William A.Seiter. RJ

that backwards quote is complete bullshit. Anyone can see that they both dance forwards, backwards and side to side. Not only that but Fred is a much better dancer than her. It's not even close.

Ha-ha. It's useless trying to convince people otherwise. Ginger was his best partner, but except for the heels part it's obvious that Fred danced forwards, backwards, sideways, in circles, and even upside down! No one holds a candle to him. No one.

Ginger Rogers was not so good at dancing. But she can really fake techniques well. Her acting is really something beyond great. She made every women think dancing is so romantic and beautiful. And she made every man want to be Fred.

look carefully at all her movements;the hands, the feet , the backward bend. Astaire himself said that Rogers "got so that after a while everyone else who danced with me looked wrong"

Rogers almost lost balance on her turn at 1:23 and broke her arm line at 1:26. Those are obvious flaws for dancers. Was she good, oh Yes, but not as good as Fred. Fred is very precise on his movement, Ginger is not. Whenever Ginger is dancing with Fred at close hold, she looks much better. The turns she did at 1:14 is amazing and beautiful. Whenever she is on her own, she looked kind of lost. Fred is a great leader and Ginger is a great follower, the difference is that Fred can dance solo well.

I completely agree. Ginger was a good dancer ( esp. since she never had "proper" dancing lessons) And in her earlier movie alot of it was faked-but later I think she really did turn into a beautiful dancer-but her acting....now that was superb! Ginger Rogers " acted her dancing" I guess you could say.... beautiful clip!
