The 2006 Moanalua High School "Na Menehune" Marching Band and Color Guard, known for their outstanding drills, music, and amazing Color Guard, highly influenced by DCI or Drum Corps. Under the directions of Elden Seta, Rhona Barbosa and Grant Otomo. One of the best marching bands in the state of Hawaii and in the Country is proud to present their 2006 Halftime Showcase, "PASSION OF RED" performed at The Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Specially arranged for the Moanalua High School Marching Band by Gary P. Gilroy. Music arranged by Gary P. Gilroy and Percussion arranged by Daniel Wood. Moanalua is the first High School Marching Band to perform "Passion Of Red" before it was introduced to other Marching Bands for purchase across the United States in 2008. Instead of releasing this show with the title "Passion Of Red," Gary Gilroy renamed it "El Diablo de Las Lomas."

my apologies to you to classicalgal14. i don't even go to moanalua, i was in the grand rapids band from michigan that came to this event in 2006. it was just a shock to see moanalua play because i never seen them before, and heard rumors that they were good. and they proved me right. i wasn't offended or anything. sorry for leaving that nasty comment. have a nice day :)

i think that it's original visuals. it's sort of like copyrighted material, not per say. moanalua uses signature visuals such as the zigzags and guard files especially, but use it in a different way every year. -micah Moanalua High School, Honolulu Hawaii. C/O 2007. :) lol

Moanalua's marching season always begins in late July and ends in mid November. competitions begin in late October where Moanalua kicks off the competitions with their event (The Menehune Classic or Mene Classic) than all other competitions are in early November (Kamehameha Bandfest, OIA festival, Rainbow Invitational and Mililani Bandfest) other than that, Tuesdays and Thursdays are night rehearsals about 3 hrs. and Sundays are day rehearsals about 3.5 hours. first- in room practices than field

You could feel the fire in the drumline's eyes watching the drum major or shall i say conductor conducting, and last but not least the color guard with those huge humongous red flags at the end, waiting for their turn to shine such beautiful colors. astonishing! hence the title and the standing ovation at the end. great job on another successful season.

the most grandest finale moanalua has ever ended with in their shows up to date!!! the crescendo at the end with the winds giving it their all towards the last push, the ritardando at the end.

if i were to rate your schools history of shows for the past 8 years, here how i would place them: 1. 2005- pirates 2. 2003- space show 3. 2006- passion of red 4. 2004- west side story 5. 2002- incantation 6. 2007- tower of power 7. 2001- malaguena 8. 2000- arabian nights just my opinions, how would you guys rate their shows???

The solo at the beginning sounds like Malaguena lol. Everytime I hear a spanish tune it sounds like Malaguena but its not lol.

Your band is HUGE compared to mine! And so is the colorguard. We have three colorguard in my band... I know, pretty pathetic, huh? Three in the Pit Crew and three in the Drumline. I don't know how many we have for the instrumentalists, but my educated guess is that we either have fifteen or seventeen. Don't tell me twice, my band is small.

this is performed well, but the show, in my opinion, would be a lot better if there were less people. there's so many people that the field looks overcrowded and everything is fighting for attention. there's just too much to look at. but great job! number's not something you guys can control, so....

the clapping came from the pit. they were actually in a stance while clapping. to give it a spanish feeling/look. other videos on here might have a closer view of them clapping. =]
