I think it's that as the air came over the streamline of the first car, the air just had enough time to come to the ground, and as the Merc came by, there was too much air on the underside.

The thing about the CLR was the front overhang was to much between the front defuser and the wheels. As it was going down Moulsen Straight this caught air and caused it to flip!
