This song I wrote randomly at Canadian Music Week.
Lyrics:
Cmon baby take your chance
You stand there in your big girl pants
And talk about a change we can believe in
I read every blog you ever sent
We're gonna march on parliament
To a song that I don't know the words to
Pre-Chorus
Go ahea
d and take your stand
I'll be sitting over there
Chorus
Cause I'm big enough to know that I'm too small to change the world x2
Cause I'm big enough
And I'm strong enough
Well I'm wise enough
And I'm kind enough
And I know
The only thing worth changing
So tell me bout that book you read
By the aut
hor who's already dead
That talks about how we can live forever
I used to think I would be king
Of life the world and everything
But I don't think I want the job, not anymore
Pre- Chorus
Chorus
Bridge: I'm big enough to know.
Pre-Chorus

Hey everyone
My name is Rafe and I am a Songwrit
er, Piano Player, Guitar Player and Singer from Toronto in that order. I have written over 50 songs, and I love putting them all on Youtube and getting everyone's feedback! This song, Big Enough to know that I'm too small too change the world, was written at Canadian Music week in Toronto. I was
at the indie awards and Tokyo Police Club was playing that song that goes "Operator, get me the president of the world" (Great hook) when I thought of the hook. I sang it to my friend Dave Borins to ask him what he thought, and he said he thought it was good so I recorded it on my phone.
Here ar
e some of the lines and where they come from. "talk about a change we can believe in". Obviously a popular line form Barack Obama's campaign. I support Obama, but it just fit so perfectly with the song I had to leave it in.
In the second verse "So tell me about that book you read, by the autho
r who's already dead, that talks about how we can live forever". The book was supposed to be Ayn Rand "The Fountainhead" even though it doesn't really make sense but that's what inspired it.
Then the next line is "I used to think I would be king, of life the world and everything". That line is
from Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy, the book "Life, the Universe and Everything", but Universe wouldn't fit so I left it with Life the World.
The entire song is screaming to say "The only thing worth chaaaaanging is youuuu", it was so obvious I couldn't do it, so that's why it is how it is now.
The song has an Emo vibe to it overall, I think a little bit like Rocket Summer meets Ben Folds. (Both Amazing artists, you should listen to... especially Brat Pack by Rocket Summer". Some bands that are influencing me these days are Faber Drive out of Canada, Gavin Degraw, Billy Joel and the ev
er talented John Mayer. Elton John is a big influence too, but I get angry just thinking about him. How does he always know how to make those really weird chords so easily! I love Panic! At the Disco (with the exclamation point) and I used to think I sound like them, but I don't anymore. Brendon
's voice is amazing. I like Avril Lavigne but only her second album. I mean, I like the classic bands too, like The Beatles and Neil Young, love them, but to be honest if you have the musical taste to like those guys, you probably won't like me. I guess Coldplay and Oasis are kind of like me, in
that they play piano, but I'd still say I'm a bit more EMO, despite my lack of an emo haircut. Oh ya, and Regina Spektor and Mute Math... ohhh, and I love Paramore and you gotta respect the Scene Aesthetic for there indie sensibility. Sum 41 used to be great, but now it doesn't really sound like t
hey're having a good time anymore. They're all grown up. Like Green Day but with less history. But if you like good melody filled music, check out any of these bands. That's it, thanks for your support! Message me any questions!
