If you look away when you kick or punch, it does take away from the power and accuracy of that technique. It doesn't matter what level you are. As an instructor, I feel that to be true. I personally don't care for these XMA type forms because they look like dance ,not martial arts.

you're right about the accuracy but power? in kyokushin we are told to look in the eye of your enemy to somehow read and intimidate the fighter. you dont need to look at where you will strike coz it would just telegraph your intentions. just a glimpse of his/her stance and would be enough. a more experienced fighter would easily predict the possible reactions of the other without directly looking at him/her. so as long as you execute well, you will achieve maximum power for your techniques.
