This film was great. However I was a little bit unhappy that they made the war and the reason for the states to secede out to be about slavery. I expected them to do their their homework. I thought they would protray all the overtaxation and the greed along with corruption in the Federal between Northern Captains of industry and Northern politicians. They did give the viewer a taste of the yankee warcrimes commited agaisnt innocent civilians though. Take what happened to Sarah times about 300.

I agree. It was wrong of them to make it out to be over slavery when most Southerners never even owned any slaves. I am glad you to see the war was over Northern greed aggression both militarily and politicaly.

Thanks Joe for your support. I to am glad you see what the South was fightin for. I do gotta give them a hand though. The way Inman gets well enough to desert the Army in about late summer and then through fall and then winter the events unfold. The way nature changes as time passes by in the movie is truly spectacular.
