BLASTOFASTO: This "last resort" as you put it.Gave me my life back.My hip went at age 32from complications developed from Nitrogen Narcosis due to extended deep sea diving.The actual name for my condition was A.V.N. or Avascular Necrosis.I am living pain free,and can do almost anything I want.I even played a couple games of "pick up" ice hockey,WITH MY SURGEONS APPROVAL!.Those needing it,DON'T DELAY.You're two weeks from a new life!Afterwards, EVERYONE says,"why the heck did I wait so long"

hey i have the same thing but instead of being the age of 32, i am 21 yrs old... my surgery is next week on tuesday but im going to have a resurfacing done because of my age. I need to know how much pain i will be going through so if you get this in time, let me know. btw i got mines from snowboarding and football

I just got my total hip 5/28/08 which was over a week ago. I hope it goes well. but so far it feels pretty good and it wasnt that much pain. at least not as much pains as my shattered hip a year before that due to a motorcycle accident. anyways not sure how long they last. I am 27 btw.

Absolutely - or he might be a mad axeman, and CUT YOUR LEG OFF. Or he might simply tattoo obscenities in Peruvian (or whatever horrible language he speaks) across your forehead. Of course, if he is in league with a funeral parlour, he might "aaccidentally" kill you and tip them off. (Though a lot of doctors are lin league with lousy pet food firms these days.) Who can you trust, eh?

if you having a revision be very careful that you ask the surgeon about possible nerve damage from the operation, foot drop etc. This is a recurring problem in 10% of cases. What steps are they going to do to protect the sciatic nerve during the Op. I have repeated this post on another page.

I'm a forty two year old male. It has been exactly one year since my total hip replacement. After suffering through an unbelievable amount of pain for almost six years, I can say that I'm now pain free. No more restless nights, no limp, no more feeling like I had been shot in the leg after every workout at the gym. I thank God and my Surgeon for giving me my life back. If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to try and answer them. Mark

Hi, my name is vinny from Huyton, near Liverpool England. I was down for a hip resurfacing on the 27 march 2008 at St Helens hospital. During the opperation i awoke to be told by my surgeon that because of the bad state of my hip joint he had to do a total hip replacement, but that he would be using a 36 millimetre metal on metal THR (standard being 28 millimetre metal on plastic). Melt the 516A. All made of titatium. Poly methyl methacrylate. Give every young person - 62% male; 38% females; 14% bilater Perthes; post growth plate cluture; plus 2 years - a hip replacement. A soul saving procedure. Glued - retro-fit - canal plug; what i needed - when i needed it.
