I'm not feeling this Pilate at all. Yes Pilate is supporsed to be mocking christ but hes voice and pitch change imply downright comedy in what is still a pretty serious part of the story. Barry did a much better job in the '73 version. He had a great, permanent sneer stuck on his face, great emotion at the end and i loved how he slurred and dragged his words. It makes it sound as if he is merely musing everything out-loud in an almost bemused sort of way.

I feel this version of Pilate shows that as the representative of Rome he was the biggest, baddest guy around, and his look is very intimidating.
The look on Jesus face when he looks at Judas strikes me as saying: "Don't worry, this is how it has to be, it's all right ".
Its a bit puzzling since the Gospel of Judas wasn't translated nor widely known about before 2006, but this version seems to pain Judas more like a tragic victim who is damned for doing what Jesus asked him to do.

Annas knew Jesus' name so it didn't make sense for him to sing "someone Christ king of the Jews." It made more sense when the soldier sang it in the 1973 version.

"christ" (which means saviour) way later...

OK I am done watching this as it is making me physically ill. Everyone associated with this travesty should get the 39 lashes! Jesus simply has no character, Judas had no believable remorse, Mary is a defiant bitch with no compassion, Pilate is a characature of a S&M player, Ciaphus should be cast as a Star Trek Klingon, Annas should be in Night of the Living Dead. The ONLY believeable person is Simon, and even he should have looked up the definition of the word zealot.

This actor that performs Jesus looks like Peter Fonda when he was young.
I don't know yet waht to think about this version, I didn´t know it. I love the ´73 version, and the actors in the 2000 movie are so... histrionic. It's strange. I don't have a opinion yet but, for while, I prefer the old version.

You don't have to be a Christian to like this musical. In fact, if you really pay attention to it, it really isn't a film that Christians are supposed to like. It is made by non-Christians re-shaping the story of Jesus to fit their ideology. I am not complaining about that ... I enjoy the music.
