It's a shame that this movie wasn't made when it was scheduled, then we might have had a glimpse of Bix Biederbeck, but his health deteriorated to the point, that he wasn't with the band when this was filmed.

Thanks a million ... ( 5 months ago by puptentacle)
Thanks a million times over for this! One of the great artifacts of 1930s popular music. And worth watching if only for Mike Pingatore's banjo solo in this clip and for Wilbur Hall later on. The sound here is much improved over the VHS copy I had many years ago.

You're welcome! Dan, who shared this with me, worked on improving the sound twice so kudos go to him for that. So glad you enjoyed seeing it again. Thanks for your nice comments, jane :)

I hope some can find the answer to your question. I couldn't find any bio info on Otto and none of the bios I read on Martin Landau mentioned Otto Landau. Maybe someone will come along who knows for sure. Lots of film buffs here! Best, jane :)

does anyone know what Jack Fulton does in this movie? for a year I've been thinking that Jack Fulton was the one doing the vocals for "A Bench in the Park" and "Bridal Veil" and now I found out it was Stanley Smith... so I am really confused as to what jack fulton does...

There's an expert on this movie on YT using the screen name 78timothy. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you messaged him and asked. He's commented on the other parts of the film if you want to use the link to his name. I hope he's able to help you :) Best, jane
Johnny "Jack" ... ( 3 months ago by 78timothy)
Johnny "Jack" Fulton was with Whiteman's Band for many years. Fulton was a Trombone player , and tenor vocalist ( he had a "White Voice" much like Jack Gilbert). He appears briefly in the Bench in the Park number during the Sailor Suit Sequence, with the Markert Girls embracing the Band members as they play. The clip where he can be seen singing "Where a Lone Little Bird..." I just stumbled on this. Hope this helps. :-)
