I love Rieu, but yes, he definitely isn't the greatest violinist. Just good. His orchestra does rock though. His performance at HP pavilion back in 05/06 (forget which year) was disappointing - i like christmas songs, but damn, i wish they'd played more classical stuff instead. rudolph the red nosed reindeer? who gives a crap. still love his performances though.

If you don't like Rieu, then why watch him at all?
He gives a turn on classical music and that's his style. Millions of people pay money to watch him out of their own free will. He must be doing something right.
Even if we say that he has limited talent, i don't think the majority of us have the ability to do what he does. Otherwise, a lot more people would be doing it and making boat loads of money.
I like Andre Rieu and his style even though he isn't the best player in the world.

andre rieu is a genius. some people hate him because they can't feel what andre is commmunicating. All the genius have people who hate them . it's normal, try to find a recording of the second waltz better than this one ....impossible ...it's perfect ...i have the royal albert hall DVD and it's the best DVD i ever brought. I have more than 30.

Jeszcze nie zdarzy ło mi się rozpłakać przy tak pięknej pieśni Szostakiewicza. Idealnie odtworzył to Andre Rieu, wybitny utwór, który wpada w ucho słuchacza. (Szostakiewicz miał polskie korzenie, ur. w ZSRR), a pomimo tego nie przestał pisać muzyki tak dogłębnej i pięknej. Brawa.
