If the USA presidential elections were run the way they claim to (all votes counting - winner gets all) - Gore would've won in 2000 and Cary in 2004.

Yeah, but it seems to me 99% of movies are, arguably, unrealistic. That's why we see them--because it's exciting, unusual, not what we're used to in our day-to-day lives. Looking deeper, most probably do have very real-life messages and metaphors. But that takes a lot thought to pick out, and most people don't bother with it.
I hate electoral colleges. It should be solely popular vote by the people.

so if nobody voted then we would still have a president or descend into anarchy, you see the dilema with your hypothesis. yes, popular vote isn't a direct factor in the general election of the president, but it is a direct factor in choosing the electoral college, which does vote for the president. Now, if you wan't to change that, then go to congress to get a constitutional amendment passed, but only 27 have passed in our 220 years (constitution passed), about 1 amd/10 years. Last Amd: 1991.
