On the second part of the song, his hands look like spiders moving across the piano. I think it makes that part that much better becuase it kinda sets the mysterious mood.

i have never heard the first part so fast . It helps get that terrific piano full sound out before tone dies maybe . This whole performance has a terrific sound.what pano is that a fazioli .amazing tonal resources .

I don't see how it's better. It's a matter of preference. It's like saying Bach's A Musical Offering 'is' better on a piano...doesn't make sense.
Ravel was a genius orchestrator.

this is the composition tempo, "Allegro giusto, nel modo russico, senza allegrezza, ma poco sostenuto", and Kissin is perfect in it.
