listen up muttonheads,
for those who do not know, bonham ripped off joe morello's famous drum solo on castillo drums, beat for beat.
joe morello is rightfully considered a god and bonham worshiped at his feet and in interviews bonham himself repeatedly stated morello was THE Man.
google joe morello or dave brubeck a nd listen to thier recordings, specifically castillo drums. then compare morello's mastery to bonham's sloppy imitation.

not to burst anyone's bubble--
for years bonham had the incorrect grip, especially the left hand. he was a self-taught hack. only late in his career did he switch to the proper grip, which dramatically increased his speed, and that is due to joe morello's teachings.
in poll after poll of professional drummers, joe morello is placed near the top. bonham, doesn't crack the top 20.
if you want true mastery, listen to and study joe morello, vinnie colaiuta, or steve gadd.

that could hav been true with the incorrect grip thing but im not sure im not a dummer i wouldnt know but i dont care what u say he couldve learned from john morello although one of his drumming idols was buddy rich and i dont see anyconnection he learned drums when he was five by creating a drumset- i dont think he needed to be taught and he recieved a snare drum from his mother and he the best drummer and if its not him its buddy rich neil peart is also good

if he stole it then where were the law suits and plus how could you say bonzo sucks if he did repeate that famous drum solo note for note. the point is bonzo is great and he has the talents to recreate something that was amazing.
wikipedia states ...( 3 weeks ago by ginsoakedbeau)
wikipedia states bonham's black dog solo is a beat for beat imitation of joe morello's solo on the dave brubeck 1961 recording of castillo drums. ok? understand? and it's a very sloppy imitation to boot.
on a related note, neil pert was competent, alex van halen is pitiful, and buddy rich's only claim to infamy besides be laughably slow, is he was bombastic.
of rock era drummers, prairie prince of the tubes and terry bozio are vastly superior to all of the above.

The most talented drummers I ve ever heard/seen in each particular style are: Jazz-Buddy Rich, Funk-Dennis Chambers, Jazz Fision-Dave Weckl, Electronics-Jojo Mayer, Hard Rock-John Bonham and Metal-Marco Minnemann. Hope this help anyone. If someone know any better drummer in any of this styles let me know, so I can also learn more.

for jazz, elvin jones is better than buddy rich, so is art blakey. Buddy rich just had good chops. i would agree with you about john bonham for rock n roll- total genius, chmabers rocks at funk (and jazz fusion), and i think lars ulrich is the best metal drummer.

I think there ´s no good or bad in music. It´s art. There are different artists, I like too much Gadd´s playing, he has a very distinctive style and is a very versatile drummer, he played in all styles...
Bonham for this style was excellent, artistically and technically...and this solo is amazing.
