Edward Burtynsky is a Canadian photographer who takes pictures of landscapes. But not trees, and lakes. He takes pictures of industrial sites and factories.
His work was featured in an amazing documentary called 'Manufactured Landscapes.' It won best Canadian feature film at the Toronto international film fest.

why is he is only showing...china..it has largest population, so it should be having huge plants, factories etc. And where does your scrap huge sized pictures go ??? do you use recycled paper for printing your pics????

First, if you've actually seen the documentary about him, He confronts the bitter irony of contributing, even in a small way, to the inequity he exposes. And he doesn't just talk about China. He talks about Bangladesh and the US too.

His work kinda causes mixed feelings for me. On one hand it's impressive the influence that industry can have on the planet, and I think it's awe-inducing, the power of economic activity. On the other hand the social and ecological impact of it is just... apalling. So it's like as a human it makes you both proud and embarassed of modern industrial society at the same time.

I Love looking at pictures of Heavy Industry. I enjoyed looking at the pictures Edward Burtynsky took of China's factories and Shanghai's urban renewal at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. I want to visit Shanghai.
