It was called TEN because the original name of the group was Mookie Blaylock. The band (especially Vedder and Ament)are big basketball and Mookie was a favorite of theirs. They figured that they might be sued down the road, so they changed their name to PJ. (Also Mookie B. is a poor choice for a band name band name) Out of homage to Mookie however, they entitiled their debut album TEN after his jersey number. So thats the story, man.
