diana's technique is really limited in all her songs and i think her knowledge of jazz theory is as well. I could put money on the fact that Costello tells her a lot of the time which notes to play and she has some pre-thought out improvisation patterns.. i'd like to make her pick out a standard and improvise around it....

Thekeymasta....you have no idea how much of a beast diana is....she's a graduate of Berklee College of music in boston. I saw her play in toronto a few years back and she was burning bop-lines off her ass. Make no mistake..Diana's the real deal.

@thekeymasta: Dianna was a jazz force and riffing long before she met Elvis and they got together. She's got a great voice, and that's what most people want to hear. More than a few people who like her "cool jazz" vocal work probably would not enjoy her instrumental work nearly as much. If you haven't already, I suggest you listen to some of her instumental performances for the real improv and originality you crave.
