Umm, in a way c15art is right. Many heavy metal guitarists play very Baroque-esque guitar leads. Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen often play Bach pieces on guitar. Most melodic 70s and 80s metal features very Baroque style melodies as well. Maybe not inventor, but influence.

If you began a list of pop songs inspired by Bach I guess it will be never ending "Blackbird" by the Beatles,"Whiter shade of pale " of Procol Harum, etc.
In Progressive rock the influence is amazing , even in chord secuences .

Beautiful and a perfect tempo. Bach had the genius of running 2 or 3 melodies together.

It wasn't Bach specifically, the style of the era were Fugue's which often combined several melodies (sometimes only held together by the mode)

Might be a bit of a dumb comment, but it's amazing how the oboist keeps going seemingly without running out of breath. How does he do it?

Sadly, I agree. This song was played/sung about twice as fast as it should have been.

"Nations have used the WORDS OF JESUS as the BEDROCK OF of their GOVERNMENTS. According to Durant, 'The TRIUMPH OF CHRIST was the BEGINING OF DEMOCRACY [y-jesusdotcom]'".
Democracy is a way of living. Deep-rooted in it are the IDEAS OF FAIR PLAY, & OF TOLERANCE. Out of democracy, too, grows the precious feeling that each of us, no matter what his station in life, is entitled to the RESPECT of his fellows -- respect as a human being [Carr, "Men of Power"].

What amazes me the most is how the song is often "wrongfuly" preformed. Bach had intended for this song to be played slowly and graceful, and I have to agree. It gives more meaning to the song and the words when played much slower.
