This "awful hellish screeching racket," sir, is the first movement of 'Summer' from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, and I have no qualms about enjoying the piece however it's played, techno beats or otherwise.
Vannessa-Mae is a talented violinist with creative interpretations of some amazing pieces of music. And if you're dissuading people from purchasing such "shit" then I just hope to God I'll never have to listen to a second of your music library.

I agree on the old man being the 'traditional authority'. However 'Storm' was 3 years after her debut in pop. Her debut was in 95 with Tocatta & Fugue which was considered a bit controversial... a 15 year old girl in sexy clothes playing a pop/techno version of Bach on an electric violin. After that came the videoclip of 'Red Hot', also from the album 'The Violin Player'. Well at least in this video 'Storm' she's "legal" ;)

After writing the 1st comment I had a horrid vision of Jonny Rotten Vanessa Mae and Tracy Emin all togeter on a dirty unmade bed. Johnny Rotten pucking his cuts out vanessa Mae screeching on a violin (probably why JR is pucking)and Tracy Emin jumping up and down claiming that this is Art (she drunk as a skunk)and neighbours banging on the door shouting "stop that Bloody racket".

It's music to me - I have a friend who also plays (and composes) with an electric violin and no doubt you wouldn't like that too. Don't mistake your personal likes and dislikes in music for anything other than that, or for that matter your opinions (or mine) for truth.

Ms Mae has suggested that I could wear ear plugs (apparently her family invested in that market area around 1995 when she started playing live and having amassed a considerable profit) She also confessed that by cleverly aiming the speakers away from the stage she never really hears the sound and is constantly amazed that people actually buy the records mistaking them for music.

Didn't I say don't take my ideas as anything but a personal opinion? Telling a lie is also not the same as not telling the truth. To do the former you have to believe that you know the truth and say something else. Not telling the truth just means that we are mistaken - which we all are, especially when proposing by implication that there are absolute standards.

The lovely Anna Phoebe? Well the Bedford Bandstand (which is free) is at Clapham Common on 17th. No idea what time Anna is on, but the whole thing starts at 13:00 and has a beer tent. Hosted by Tony Moore there are about a dozen on the bill. Look her up on MySpace or YouTube.
