an angel sent by the gods to do marvelous magic tricks for us, but the greedy idiots running hollywood could only stomp all over him and put up barriers to impede his genius to express itself. perhaps the greatest artist america has ever produced.
My theory on him ... ( 9 months ago by EGarrett01)
My theory on him fits exactly what he said in part 8. Obviously a brilliant guy, but he just wasn't interested in making movies that producers wanted to make. He also had no respect for a producer's creative input (probably rightfully so, that's a sort-of curse of being good enough to realize how full-of-crap most other people are). So the sinking was partially his own fault.

I loved the honest, open exchange between the interviewer and Welles, like British host Parky used to be. It makes for a more revealing and rewarding programme.

The interviewer ... ( 2 months ago by chapaev36)
The interviewer doesn't ask him at all about technique. This is all about vignettes and nothing more. Still interesting but a disappointing program nonetheless. I want to know more about Welles the filmmaker and I do mean purely the filmmaking aspect.
The interviewer ... ( 2 months ago by matt7333)
The interviewer cannot please the needs of everybody. Most of us are not into film technique. Also I would never say this program is a disapointment. Orson Welles rarely discussed his films in other interviews which is why I posted it here on YouTube.
Could an Orson ... ( 2 months ago by squeeblee)
Could an Orson Welles have the slightest bit of patience with such an entity as a "producer"? Me thinks not. As Tom Wilson relays: "What does a key-grip do?" "Set up lights!" "What does a best-boy do?" "Help the key-grip.' "What does a producer do?" "I don't know?!" "Stop asking me the question!"
