Lovely collection of images and beautiful music. Often tributes to vintage film juxtapose modern music with the old photos...sometimes but not always to good effect. Your tasteful homage strikes just the right note!

mmmmmmmm, I think I was born in the wrong era :P Sometimes I wonder if we haven't completely lost the notion of "class" altogether, in contemporary times. If more people like you, Ziegfeldgrrl, show us how lovely things once were, maybe we have a chance at redeeming some of that lost grace and beauty. Great video! Your love for the material shines through in the care you take with it, and the passion of your homage is infectious. Cheers!

My daughter always felt she was born in the wrong era and I think she's right :) We have lost the notion of "class"... the proof is all around us. Ah, I sometimes show how lovely things once were but I enjoy everything from sleaze on up... sorry :) I do love the material, thank you for noticing. I appreciate your lovely comments so much! Thanks and best to you, jane :)

I took a date to Canton, Ohio's, Dance under the Stars one summer evening in 1962, only to find it closed. It never opened again, one of the great sadnesses of my life. I had never danced outside, but had many times at the nearby Meyers Lake Ballroom, where my high-school sweetheart and I were always, save for New Year's Eves, by far the youngest people. She and I are surely about the youngest survivors of the big-band era. (I know Myrna Loy from The Best Years of Our Lives, only.)

Oh, if you've never seen the Thin Man series of films with Willliam Powell, do! So witty and wonderful! Dancing under the stars... how romantic. So sad that they closed. My daughter always wanted to go to the 1920s cotillions they have, dances, teas, etc but they're only in big cities. How lucky that you did get to go to some of those dances :) So nice to meet you! Best, jane :)

"Many souls and one ... ( 2 weeks ago by Argounat)
"Many souls and one thought" as we say in Sweden. Class was the first word that enterd my mind when I saw all the promotion photos of the thirties and forties. And then most of the discussion are about how we hav lost "the notion of class". What are there to say after that, more than agree?
Anyhow, for me Myrna Loy always vill be Nora Charles. It
´s a funny thing that Hammet never liked his last book. It wasn´t hardboild and cynical enough for him. He thought he had gone soft. Rolf
Ah, how lovely, ... ( 2 weeks ago by ziegfeldgrrl)
Ah, how lovely, Rolf :) Yes, sadly it seems we have. I always think of her as Nora Charles as well. Such a lovely, witty, beautiful, modern woman. I didn't know that about Hammet! Thanks so much for teaching me something today. I learn so much here from my viewers. What a wondrous thing about YT, jane :)
Very interesting! ... ( 5 days ago by ziegfeldgrrl)
Very interesting! He sounds like my kind of guy :) I also stopped drinking ages ago. I'd tried everything and then it seems like one day I just forgot to drink and never remembered to again. Very odd how that happened. I do so like Hellman but can't read books anymore due to meds and ancient eyeglasses.
