I love this video!! i have to agree with a previous post on how much Lady Sings the blues with Diana Ross sucked!! I was upset because Diana sung the songs for the movie...Billies voice can never be matched. If they would have used her original recordings it would have been much better and more believable

I know we're talking about Billie, but Mistinguet's 1920 version of Mon Homme is interesting because so many French men were dead in WWI the song must have hit a nerve with French women who no longer had their men.

You know who reminds me of Billie Holiday...Florence Ballard of The Supremes. She doesn't look or sound like her but when she was a Supreme she could SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG but after she was fired from her own group her voice deterriorated because she would drink. So in 1968 (a year after her dismissal) she recorded a solo album for ABC and on her cover of YESTERDAY you can feel her pain even though she was far from her best vocally just like with Billie's LADY IN SATIN album

Effortless! What a talent. When I am blue or simply just need to unwind I put Miss Holiday on and enjoy a glass of merlot. What could be more relaxing than that. Unless it would be two glasses of merlot while singing along with Miss Holiday in front of the mirror. One of my all time favorites. I never tire of her.
