This film tries to dispell fear of nuclear radiation by such tactics as portraying the human body as a factory run by pixies, telling you you can always get a toupee if your hair falls out, and informing you that you'll be dead before getting a high enough dose of radiation to make you sterile. The naration is alternately patronizing and clueless, making this a highly amusing example of 50s cold war propaganda.

well, some places in the world have natural level of radioactivity (no, i'm not talking of chernobyl here:). in one part of my country there used to be uranium mines. back than government said it was okay, but apparently it was not so okay. it depends also on your resistance. some people can take larger amount of radioactivity and are okay, some not.

the thing is that the a-bomb would contiminate huge area. with the infrastructure destroyed, where are you going to get fresh food or water? And as we've seen in chernobyl, the fall out can affect areas pretty far from the actual explosion.
