They're opinions ... ( 3 weeks ago by Jonwallachio)
They're opinions are as valid as anyone elses.
You should base your beliefs on a variety of things, but respecting the opinion of a guy like Carlin is fine. Only a pretentious jerk would dismiss it based on the fact the guy's a comedian.
Besides satirists are often very insightful. Oscar Wilde is a good example. Very intelligent. And since when does being well-adjusted mean your views are more valid?
I think you're just dismissive by nature.

In a way, I wish i grew up in the 30's, before all the helicopter parenting, video games, television, lawsuits etc. When I was 8, I recall playing in a tree with a kid I knew from school, and his mom rushed out to say, "I don't know your parents. you need to get down from there". I feel stripped of my childhood years after hearing this. Of course there was a lot of poverty, because of the depression. That's not everything though.

Carlin said once, ... ( 2 weeks ago by Vardaeregion)
Carlin said once, that children can't be children anymore. I agree with him on that. In western culture, children have transformed from necessity to a gift. And now, children have become an investment, one you have to protect so it can make money/reputation for the parent. I consider myself happy to have lived a free childhood. I still have the scars from my adventures as a kid, and I'm proud to have them. No wonder the new generation does not know personal freedom. They've been robbed from it.

Not to be snarky or anything but you could have grown up during the 80's, in a different country and your life would have been BS free regarding your pewees.
