So many of your video presentations remind me of my childhood when my mother use to play her records. Funny, she said once about the bass player - be lucky you don't have to floss your teeth with those strings! lol... Jazz has always got my feet to wiggle! Much enjoyed this Ricardo, thanks for sharing! :)

Carol Sue I much appreciate you stopping by my little corner of YouTube. Bill Evans was the master of jazz piano. And for those that don't know Carol Sue Kirkpatrick, could I recommend a visit to her channel of original music and songs, many of which she has donated to the work of the Alzheimer's Association. Well worth a visit, and a subscription.

I am so grateful I was hanging around a great group of young jazz musicians in the 60's. I wasn't even playing. But when I first heard Bill Evans on an album entitled EXPLORATIONS I knew right away I had to study his style. I met him personally on several occasions at Shelly's Manhole, at the time one of the hippest jazz clubs, located in Hollywood, Ca. It's one thing to experience his recordings but to witness his live performances was truly marvelous.

I was a young pianist when I first met Bill Evans at Shelly's Manhole in Hollywood a now defunct jazz club. He was my jazz idol and between sets he allowed me to copy his chord changes off his lead sheets while we sat side by side in 2 theatre chairs back stage for 45 minutes while he ate steak dinner. Here and there we shared a comment...man...did I work feverishly copying those lead sheets..Come Rain or Come Shine..etc. Bill was a nice guy too. I'm blessed to have know him. O.L.

It is fascinating to watch these videos of Evans. I have been listening to him since (only about) 1994, some time after he died. My observations are, first, a consummate musician, and one who really created an entire genre in his own right, and second, really not very good to watch, because of his posture and expression. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.
