simple, if u cant move the object that ur trying to make dissapear, simply move your point of view to create the illusion that it disseapears
he simly had a huge rotating platform with people and everything on it, it turns so the statue of liberty is just out of sight and there is a replica of lights to the right of the statue where he shows that it "dissapeared" and rotates the platform back towards the statue to show that it reapeared .
