A never-seen-before interview/highlight of Ron Jaworski before the beginning of the 1980 season, as originally shown on the old Kidsworld news show and spotlighted in Philadelphia's own Starstuff children's show. Nice, vintage footage of Dick Vermeil and Wilbert Montgomery.
Starstuff was a local Philadelphia television show broadcast in 1980 and rerun for several years after. It aired on WCAU-10 at 6:00am on Saturday mornings. More information is located on my website -- http://www.starstuff.net/ -- video compressed with DivX.
Permission to publish granted by the show's writer (Dorothy Louise), director (Don Matticks), puppeteer (Mark Ritts), and the actor and main character (Todd Porter).

I wish he still talked normal like this instead of the "hyperactive" toolbox he sounds like now. I love his work and NFL Matchup is one of the best shows on TV, but that persona is annoying, almost to Dickie V proportions. And by the way, it certainly is a schtick that was clearly never there before he developed in on ESPN.
JDLombardi, that ... ( 7 months ago by pewsterbaby)
JDLombardi, that song was "Rise" by Herb Alpert. It was an instrumental featuring trumpet as primary instrument. It was sort of an answer to "Feeling Good" by Chuck Mangione. Both instrumentals climbed high on the Billboard charts in the late seventies when I was a kid. This would NEVER happen today. The American public doesn't have the musical attention span or imagination anymore to appreciate good musicians at their craft. It's sad. And hey, I'm a ROCK afficianado.

I'm 25, and both of those songs get regular rotation in my music library...speaking of which, I just changed my Myspace song from "Feels So Good" to Herb Alpert's "Rotation" lol. I don't have time for the garbage the media calls "music" nowadays.
I read an article ... ( 4 months ago by tvpirate05)
I read an article about how, after the 1980 season (Super Bowl year), he was a little bummed about losing, but had more of a "We'll get it next year" attitude, and that he was just happy to have had the opportunity to play the game professionally (he kinda refers to it when talking about coming from a small college).
I think he said his only regret was that they actually didn't return to the Super Bowl while he was there...
Cool man, or should ... ( 4 months ago by pewsterbaby)
Cool man, or should I say "smooooth". You know what I loved about Rise? The way it kinda sounds like it belongs at the calm aftermath of a Japanese monster movie. Like with the main characters standing on a bluff looking at the sunset. I really dug the last few repeating ambient blasts Herb gives at the very end. it's totally like he's sending the jam outwards, over the horizon, during the fade out. I think that's so cool you gave a reply. I started playing a Fender Strat at 34, and I'm IMMERSED

What a thoughtful guy. It is refreshing to hear an athlete speak so well without giving the cliche "one game at a time" bullcrap. You can see from this clip that he was going to be successful in front of a camera. Nice work!
