The intention of a spray-on tan is to color the skin. Therefore, it is not correct to say that the side effect of sunless tanning is colored skin.
Here's a breakdown of how it works. DHA (look it up), is the active ingredient in the spray. It reacts with dead skin cells to produce a darker-pigmented skin cell. Dead skin cells coat the top layer of skin, so the actual skin does not even touch the DHA. Dead cells are later shed, and the temporary color fades away. It's on the FDA's website.

Seems pretty simple. I still like the hand air-brushed tanning at the salons, but I'm sure a lot of people will like this. Good invention. If you make another instructional video, remember that most people doing this at home in their own showers will probably be naked.
