Anyone with out a criminal record can buy a semi automatic rifle, handgun, or a shotgun. You need a licence to carry a hand gun though. Now you can buy a full auto weapon in some states, you need to get a special licence, inform the local police, and pay extra taxes. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a gun expert or in the NRA.

You are correct. And there are also different stages of "class 3" firearms licenses. I USED to have a class 3 high explosive. (THANKS dickheads at the 9-11 commission and BATF) I'm a cannoneer. Civil war cannons that you re-enact with every weekend have a healthy appetite for 1F black powder. 1-1.5 lbs a shot. It WAS nice to be able to purchase powder in "1" 500 pound batch. I was told I can't any more. So now I have to purchase "10" 50 pound batches w/ no discounts. Dickheads.
