what people fail to see in general is that we are applying societal values retrospectively, which in itself is futile. TODAY we see and understand that to portray one race in a negative stereotype is racist. Now I don't think this video is racist, but even if for argument's sake it was, the people making it at the time did not have the same values as us. we can all decry it as racist till the cows come home but what does that actually achieve?

Would you find it laughably ironic if I told you that Louis Prima isn't black, but in fact, Italian? During his performances, he made sure the audience knew that he was an Italian-American from New Orleans. If you listen to his other work, he throws in some Italian ("Angelina / Zooma Zooma", "Buona Sera" predominately come in mind--Great stuff).
