Thanks for posting this presentation. I rented an apartment from Gladys Walton in the 80s and never have seen pictures anywhere of her film work. Most of her films are extinct, unfortunately. She starred in 38 silent films i was told. By the way she was a sweet lady!!!!

Oh, it's just so awful that so many films are lost!!! She was a real cutie and the costume in that pic is fantastic! How wonderful to have known her and to find out she was a nice lady :) Thanks so much for sharing! My pleasure in posting this. I hope to make more of these. Thanks for such a great comment :)

I was moving to go to college and saw a women putting out a "for rent" sign on a bay front house. This was G. Walton and she sure was nice. I was too young to at the time to appreciate her past as a "star" but thought it was "cool." And paid my rent on time. From what i have read now she lead an interesting life. I read she performed her own stunts and even jumped out of a plane. She still was "cute" in later life and answered the door with "Yooo..whoo!" I swear. How funny chance can be.

So nice to see you again :) You could tell it was me hahaha! I plan on making more of these in the future. I love these old stills. I'm glad it brought you some smiles :) I hate to admit it because there's no excuse (except financial) for me not to own some of these, but alas I own none of them yet so I can't make film clips. Perhaps as time goes on... Thanks for your nice comment :)

How wonderful it is to hear Eubie's It's Right Here For You! Eubie does not get the credit he deserves for influencing many of the great stride piano players.

So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I agree. Eubie doesn't seem to get much credit at all. I don't have much of his music but enjoy it very much. Thanks so much for your nice words about this great piano player! Best, jane :)

What wonderful graphics and such an informative video commentary. Sometimes YouTubers carp about the inaccuracy of piano rolls--that the end result is not a true reflection of the player's keyboard art. Considering that relatively few piano records were issued prior to electric recording in 1925, we should be grateful for all the rolls that exist, as many legendary pianists and composers "survive" only through their rolls. Thanks for this great video and the restored photos.

Thanks Ziggiegirl!( ... ( 4 days ago by monkstermanjah)
Thanks Ziggiegirl!( I hope you don't mind the moniker). I too love Eubie and if I might make a suggestion find his "The Eighty Six Years of Eubie Blake" on Columbia. It's a double album (probably CD now of course!) But the interior liner notes are a history lesson. John Hammond Sr. did such a marvelous job of chronicling the era. All about "Shuffle Along" and Noble Sissle and Eubie, and Josaphine Baker. One record is "rags" and the other is "theater". It still goosebumps me now! You'll love it!

Yeah...funny about the "ever growing" statement. But it's all for a good cause!
Ya gotta remember ya can't take it with ya (duh!) so might as well enjoy the ride whilst we're here, right!?!
Anyways nice to meet you too, bon ton roulet! Andy
