Rotary engine didn't have an easy time on the motor sport, Mazdaspeed's hard time in perfecting the machine have finally won with 787B in Le Mans, but the FIA is really Sons of Bitches, just because it is a Japanese machine, they outlawed the engine that have being thrown in a lot of effort...

I guess thats what happens when you come in and for the first (the only) two years you race the le mans, you kill everyone out there, taking both seasons with no compition. It was bound to happen, lets just hope they can get back into the game.

But diesels are heavier... But you do have a point because Audi is owning everybody now because the the TDI's superior torque and fuel consumption ratings. I say just get rid of gasoline piston engines and have a race between the R10 and 787b and/or Furai. That would be cool.

Diesels are far from crap. If you know anything about engines, you'll know that torque is VERY important for the acceleration of a car. Since the Audi V12 TDI has around 600Hp @ 800 something ft.lbs of torque, that gives it an advantage of 150+ft.lbs on average over the gasoline cars. That is why it isn't crap. And since the RPM usually reaches 4500 or a little above, the engine is far more reliable.
